Parent reviews
I have not yet had a child or been pregnant. I think the policy at HSBC is adequate but not going far enough to support expecting and new parents. 19 weeks full pay is quite low and I don’t think companies do a great job of explaining what the policies mean on real terms. They’re often written in legalise with differing weeks and % that have me confused and unsure what it actually means. Conversations about the set up should be more open, perhaps have lunchtime talks where HR demystify the policies so people are clear. It still feels like a taboo to ask questions openly in a banking environment, this needs to change considering how in the current times family life is balanced completely differently to a couple of generations back.
